In addition to its 16 sunny beaches, this Andalusian city on the Mediterranean Sea has a fascinating cultural side. The birthplace of Pablo Picasso has reinvented itself over the past year with its many museums.
A combination of culture, taking the sea and a lively atmosphere. Countless tapas served in bars, cutting edge neighborhoods such as Soho, the harbor transformed into a modern monument with centuries of history. This is the result of a city full of passion that everyone would like to discover. Because if everyone says that Malaga is more beautiful than ever, then it must be true.
Is one of the main tourist centers on the western Costa del Sol. The wide range of facilities and services is complemented by an international amusement park.
One of the most interesting aspects of Puerto Marina, as it is known locally, is its architectural design, which combines Arabic, Indian and, of course, Andalusian architectural styles.
There is never a dull moment at Benalmádena Marina. There is a recreational and cultural offer all year round thanks to the shops and shopping centers on land at the marina. You can also enjoy activities such as sporting events, sport fishing competitions and water activities organized by the actual marina. There are also places for the whole family to enjoy. An example of this is the Sea Life aquarium, where you can experience the secrets that lie beneath the sea up close.
Torremolinos, home to the oldest civilizations in the Mediterranean, is today one of the main destinations of the Costa del Sol. The excellent coastline, combined with the pleasant climate, are just some of the attractions this Andalusian city has to offer.
Throughout the year, the city fully enjoys all its traditional fairs, festivals and pilgrimages. The local cuisine cannot be ignored, with “pescaíto” frito (fried fish) a star attraction. La Carihuela is the setting for the Fair of el Carmen every year on July 16, the main event of which is the procession of the Virgin. In addition to Torremolinos, it is possible to visit other towns in the Málaga region with a deeply rooted tourist tradition, such as Benalmádena and Fuengirola. Inland are white mountain villages such as Mijas, with typical Andalusian houses, or Alhaurín el Grande, with its church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación and the palace of Montellano.
Despite the significant urban development of recent decades, Torremolinos has managed to preserve the seafaring atmosphere in the streets of its most traditional neighborhoods: El Calvario, El Bajondillo and La Carihuela.
Torremolinos is located just 12 kilometers from the capital of Málaga.
